Where's the Royal Road in Credit?

by Allen Vickers, CCE, A & K Railroad Materials, Inc.

Five hundred years before Christ, the Persian King Darius the Great, built a magnificent road to facilitate rapid communication throughout his vast kingdom. Messengers on horseback could cover unimaginable distances, traveling up to 1,677 miles in a week! The Persian couriers were so remarkable, it caused a Greek historian, Herodotus to note, "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor darkness of night prevents these couriers from completing their designated stages with utmost speed." Collection policy should enforce the terms of the extension of credit as set forth in our credit policy. If you choose to be lenient in one, you should be very stringent in the other. This is a must to be successful. View full article
